I recently called for dog models on my Facebook page. I had seen a images from Sims Lake Park in Suwanee and thought it might be a perfect location for sessions with lots of variety and pretty landscaping.
When Jen sent photos of Rabun, I knew I wanted to capture this precious Dalmatian boy and his adorable sister Whisper. We started with a few portraits by the water and the cool rock wall, then Jen mentioned that Rabun loves frisbee! I am always up for some fun action shots and I love the series we captured with Rabun in the field.
(Spoiler alert: Rabun was on leash the entire time! See more below)
While Rabun was all high energy, running and chasing and grinning like a wild man for the camera, his sister Whisper was relaxed and chill.
Whisper is always looking for a little loving and followed me with an adorable army crawl on her belly through the grass always trying to get close enough so I could love on her! We took turns between pictures and pets to capture her portraits.
I especially love her Elvis lip in her photo on the grass.
A Little Magic
There are very few photos I take where the dog is off leash as safety is my number one concern. Leashes also help us direct the dogs and keep them from searching for more interesting things.
Plus, many sessions are held in parks or in public unfenced spaces, so off leash dogs aren’t allowed.
Thanks to the magic of post processing, I can remove those leashes and other distractions to create a perfect image.
