What Happens When Your Foster Puppies Are Featured on The Dodo

How did I come to foster a pit bull & her 10 puppies?

How did a Boston Terrier rescue foster mom end up fostering a pregnant pit bull during a pandemic?

Because of that incredible woman right there in that photo on the far right. We wouldn’t have Boston Terriers without her big heart ❤️ falling in love with the “ugliest puppy she’d ever seen” (Willa).

We wouldn’t have started fostering Bostons if she didn’t want to adopt a special needs dog (Bocephus).

Renee saw Emma posted by animal control desperate for a foster family to step up and Renee thought… well, we’re a foster family.

Quirky graffiti style wall art makes for a fun backdrop during an urban dog photo shoot in Atlanta, Georgia.
Model pups lends a helping paw to create a great brand for Atlanta dog walking service.

And then The Dodo Reached Out

Because Renee & I already run the Rescue Ranch, our rescue specializing in medically fragile Boston Terriers, we were already sharing Emma’s journey on our social media feeds for the Ranch. Somehow The Dodo found us and reached out to feature Emma’s story in the Foster Diaries series.

We went live with #TheQuaranteenies every night on Facebook. We were even featured in our local newspaper on the front page, and on the Atlanta news! So many people were following along with their story and watching us raise the puppies.

Thanks to social media both through the Rescue Ranch’s audience, and of course the huge audience at The Dodo, all 10 of Emma’s puppies were adopted right after their spay/neuter appointments. And even better? Emma found a loving home also.

It Started with Prom Dresses – How I Became A Pet Photographer

Prom Dresses to Dogs I got my first real job at 13 years old. I didn't know at the time that this job would shape the entire trajectory of my life. I was selling prom dresses to teenagers older than I was. At the time, the store also sold couture bridal gowns, so I...

How Loss Made Me A Pet Photographer

No One Wants to Talk About the Loss of a Pet Today my Google calendar reminded me that 10 years ago today Renee drove into downtown Atlanta to meet a family surrendering Sissy the Siberian Husky. Sissy's first family dad was in the military and when he was deployed...

The Images That Made Me A Pet Photographer

Willa - The Beginning In 2015, we were playing fetch in the yard at the Rescue Ranch and I of course had my camera, at the time a Nikon D3200 with a 17-55 mm kit lens. I was laying the on the ground and took this photo. Clearly, the horizon line isn't close to...

"I had such a great experience with Courtney! She ensured not only that the pups were prepared but that I was also. I had a detailed checklist of what to do to prepare before the shoot. From how far in advance to get the groomed/bathed to Coloring/cutting my hair in advance (if needed), what color and texture of clothing to wear for the best results, recommended collars for the pups. I think she had everything covered. Courtney was very patient with all of us :). If you are looking for photos with your furry family, I would absolutely recommend her!"

Liz, Kaos, & Kali

"We were lucky enough to attend the Love Barks event at Pet Pleasers Bakery in Gainesville, and Courtney captured some amazing photos of my dogs. It can be challenging to get them to sit still, but Courtney is a pro! Everything was set up perfectly to maximize our time there, and she is so fast with that camera. She was even able to Photoshop my hand + the leash out of several of the photos. It was a great experience, and we look forward to doing another session with Courtney soon!"
