Capturing Iconic Landmarks in Atlanta – Dog Friendly Ponce City Market
We recently wrapped on the Cutie Paws Top Model Contest which looked for dogs, cats, & other pets (a hedgehog is coming!) living in Atlanta to become models on the brand new Cutie Paws website!
Check out the new Cutie Paws Atlanta website here.
As part of our model casting, we held a model contest for Atlanta’s Next Top Cutie Paws Model, and Atlanta delivered! We had so many great contenders for the contest, but Tahoe the Tiger Pup took Grand Prize!
After finding our models, it was time to plan the sessions. I knew I wanted to capture some cool Atlanta landmarks, and Tahoe happens to live just steps from Ponce City Market which is a great dog friendly urban space to walk your dog!
From its landmark location in Old Fourth Ward, Ponce City Market has become a connecting point for the exciting mix of adjoining neighborhoods, and beyond—including Virginia-Highland, Midtown, Inman Park, Poncey-Highland, Morningside, Candler Park and Druid Hills.
Ponce City Market is focused on building community connections, and has incorporated a pedestrian network, public green spaces, and access to the Atlanta BeltLine corridor—all within the revitalized historic property.

Urban Session + Natural Settings – Combining Dog Friendly City Details
I love the cool urban feel of Tahoe’s session with Ponce City Market’s unique architectural details showing. The graffiti inspired wall makes a bright colorful background and the stories high Ponce marquee make for stunning images.
But, I’m a a country mouse at heart, and I LOVE to see dogs being dogs in a natural environment, so I almost always try and find some little bits of green space to add variety even on a city dog photo shoot. Because Ponce City Market is beautifully landscaped to provide a green space for Atlanta’s city dwellers, there were plenty of options to choose from.
We found this tiny square of daisies (I think they’re daisies…. I like to look at the flowers, but I can barely keep a house plant alive. Thankfully my wife is a great gardener, but I digress.). The daisies were nestled right along the sidewalk & I imagined Tahoe peeking her cute little face around the flowers.
And after a few tries, and some flower munching by Tahoe, she gave me exactly what I was looking for! Patience, especially in dog photography, is a required skill.

"I had such a great experience with Courtney! She ensured not only that the pups were prepared but that I was also. I had a detailed checklist of what to do to prepare before the shoot. From how far in advance to get the groomed/bathed to Coloring/cutting my hair in advance (if needed), what color and texture of clothing to wear for the best results, recommended collars for the pups. I think she had everything covered. Courtney was very patient with all of us :). If you are looking for photos with your furry family, I would absolutely recommend her!"

"We were lucky enough to attend the Love Barks event at Pet Pleasers Bakery in Gainesville, and Courtney captured some amazing photos of my dogs. It can be challenging to get them to sit still, but Courtney is a pro! Everything was set up perfectly to maximize our time there, and she is so fast with that camera. She was even able to Photoshop my hand + the leash out of several of the photos. It was a great experience, and we look forward to doing another session with Courtney soon!"
