Announcing the Embark Challenge Sessions

Whatever your field – I’m a firm believer in continuing education. As a professional pet photographer – I tend to focus on a few areas of study:
The animals
The business
The art.

Continuing Education in Pet Photography

The most important piece is the animals themselves. I regularly read books, attend seminars, and continue to take training, behavior, and body language classes about dogs, horses, & cats to make me a better communicator with the animals I photograph.

Currently I’m enrolled in an Advanced Nose Work class with my dog Lira as we work through bonding and confidence building and an Adolescent Manners Class with my youngest dog Carolina.

For business education I’m a member of the Hair of the Dog Academy and participate in a mastermind with other pet photographers as well as a small accountability group with two other businesswomen in vastly different areas of the world (San Francisco, California & Milan, Italy) where we meet bi-monthly.

And this year, I am refocusing my education on the ART of photography which is where the Embark Challenge sessions & YOU come in.

Unleashed Education

I’ve been photographing dogs & horses for more than 10 years now – starting with my own dogs and foster dogs and then moving on to friend’s animals and then starting CM Bryson.

I feel pretty confident with the science of photography. I understand the exposure triangle – ISO, aperture, shutter speed. I know that I can deliver technically correct images with my camera gear in any situation with any pet.

But, I also want to make sure I am approaching every session as more than technically competent, because as much as photography is a science of light – it is also an ART of seeing light.

This year I want to push myself as an artist to make images more creatively, which is why I joined Unleashed Education at the end of 2021. And it’s why I am participating in the Embark Challenges.

We have a lot in common, if I listed all the dog training classes I take, along with art, editing and photography, it would be a very long list! Never stop learning! good luck with your embark sessions!
