It’s Week 4 of the Pet Photography Project 52! This week is all about catch lights! What’s a catch light?

Can you spot the difference? Clarabelle on the left has eyes that are full of life, and if you know Clarabelle, have a mischievous glint to them. Clarabelle on the right is a little flat and lifeless. What’s the difference? A Catch Light!

A catch light is just that little reflection of light in the eyes. It gives the eye shape and dimension. Catch lights can add that little bit of magic and sparkle that take a photograph from a snap shot to a portrait that really captures the subject.

Check out the images of Parcheesi below. Which image do you prefer? With or without the catch light? (PS. Parcheesi is newly available for adoption at the Humane Society of Morgan County)
