Photographing Dogs at Three Chimneys – Cumming, Georgia
I first met Lyanna & Bane the Tibetan Mastiffs two years ago when Bane was still “Baby Bane”. We photographed the two along with their “uncle” Tai at McDaniel Farm Park in Dacula. Sadly, Tai passed away in 2021.
They came back this year for photos with Big Bane, Lovely Lyanna, & new “uncle” Luca. This time we decided to stick close to Lyanna & Bane’s home turf – photographing the dogs at Three Chimneys in Cumming, GA where the mastiffs call home.
In this blog, I’m sharing a peak at how a multi dog photo session works.
“The three original and restored chimneys from the Buice farmhouse remain on the picturesque hill and are the focal point when entering the community.”

Can you photograph my dogs together?
One of the most frequent questions I get asked as a dog photographer is whether I can get a photo of all your dogs together.
And the answer? YES!
Lyanna, Bane, & Luca were photographed all together at Three Chimneys in Cumming, Georgia. Believe or not, these photos of the dogs together required ZERO head swaps or other Photoshop magic (other than leash removals).
But, not every group of dogs is happy sitting quite so close together, or even together at all. Thankfully, I have lots of tricks up my sleeves to make the group shot happen to deliver a perfect piece for over your mantel.

Do you still get individual photos at a multi dog photo session?
When we’re planning a multi dog photo session, we’ll spend some time thinking about what you want for you final images. In the case of Lyanna, Bane, & Luca’s session at Three Chimneys, we knew we wanted a couple of photos of all three dogs together.
But, we also wanted some photos of just Bane & Lyanna together since they live together. And, we also wanted some great images of each dog by themselves that really captures their personality.

For Bane who is still young, I wanted you to see his silly still pupy-ish personality, so I loved this image with his tongue to the side and head tilt combined with the traditional yak fur ruff his mom had shipped all the way from Tibet!
Lyanna, is a bit more of an independent lady, so capturing her in motion as she walked along despite her mom asking for a sit is exactly right for her.
And for Luca, I choose this image that has his sitting beautifully exactly where he was asked to show his sweet disposition. We also caught a few pictures of Luca catching treats to show off his athletic “food hound” side too!

What about dogs that don’t get along? Can you photograph them together?
What happens if your two dogs don’t necessarily love sitting super close together? Or would really prefer to not see each other at all?
Well, if I can’t actually photograph them together, we can plan for some post production magic to deliver artwork of them together!
Whether its just a little nudge closer to get them closer to cuddly in Photoshop – or actaully photographing them seperately with a plan to composite the images together, with the right plan we can make it happen!
