Madison, Georgia’s Chero-Cola Restoration
Winston’s mom found me through a donation to the Human Rights Campaign annual Gala when I donated a session to raise funds. Winston is also a rescue pup (which is near and dear to my heart) from Angels Among Us, a rescue group in Georgia. Winston was describe as a bit of a Diva who loved his apartment life and urban living. Being a gentleman of a certain age, Winston prefers short walks and a relaxed pace. Since we knew Winston wouldn’t be up for hiking and is a city slicker, we chose Historic Downtown Madison, Georgia for our photoshoot.
I love Madison. Coined, “the town too pretty for Sherman to burn”, it hosts some of the most beautiful antebellum homes to survive the Civil War and the historic downtown district has been painstakingly preserved. With a city park at the center and lots of unique brick buildings, Madison creates a lots of variety from urban to a more natural setting in the park. Recently, Madison also restored the super cool Chero-Cola sign you see above!
Winston was a star for his session, once we found his secret weapon. For some dogs it’s the undeniable lure of a squeaky toy, for some it’s their very most favorite ball, but Winston… for Winston it was turkey! Thankfully, Winston’s mom had let me in on that little secret, so I picked up some fresh shaved turkey before our session, as well as a couple cheese cubes and chicken for a little variety. Winston would look at me with love all day long, provided he knew where the turkey was stashed!
PS. We also photographed Winston on leash the entire session. Madison may be a small town, but there are plenty of people and cars and his safety is always my number on concern.
